Lip filler typically lasts between six and nine months, though this varies between patients. Factors that affect longevity include your individual metabolism, how active your lips are, the volume injected, and the specific product used. First-time patients often find their filler metabolises a little faster than subsequent treatments. Most patients return every six to nine months for a top-up, often requiring less product each time. Dr Amy or Dr Misha will advise on what's realistic for your lips at consultation.
Profhilo involves five injection points on each side of the face — ten in total — using a fine needle. Most patients describe it as a mild, brief sting at each point. The procedure takes around 20 minutes. Topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand if you'd prefer. Side effects are typically limited to mild redness or small bumps at injection sites, which resolve within a few hours.
They work in completely different ways. Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles — lines formed by repeated facial movement like frowning or squinting. They reduce movement, not volume. Dermal fillers add volume beneath the skin using hyaluronic acid — used for lips, cheeks, chin and jawline. Many patients benefit from both, used strategically. Your doctor will assess your face and recommend only what's genuinely appropriate for you.
For most skin concerns — texture, tone, pore size, mild scarring — a course of three sessions spaced four weeks apart is recommended. You'll typically notice improvement after the first session, with the most significant results visible two to four weeks after your third. The skin's collagen remodelling continues for several months after treatment, so results develop even after your course is complete. Maintenance sessions every three to four months help sustain results long-term.
Yes. PRP uses your own blood, which eliminates the risk of allergic reaction. The growth factors are naturally present in your body — the treatment concentrates and redirects them to the treatment area. The procedure is performed under clinical conditions by a GMC-registered doctor. Side effects are typically limited to temporary redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site. As with any injectable treatment, safety depends heavily on the practitioner — having PRP administered by a doctor significantly reduces risk.
Before any injectable treatment: avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, avoid blood-thinning medications such as ibuprofen or aspirin for 48 hours prior (unless prescribed by your GP), stay well hydrated, arrive with clean skin and eat a light meal beforehand. If you're unwell, have an active skin infection in the treatment area, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, please let us know when booking — some treatments may need to be postponed.
Yes, in many cases. Combining treatments in a single visit is common and efficient, particularly for patients travelling from outside Liverpool. Common combinations include anti-wrinkle injections with Profhilo, or microneedling with a specialist serum. Some combinations are better spaced to allow recovery. Your doctor will advise on the most effective sequencing for your goals at consultation.
